Health

Health education includes topics that focus on Physical, Emotional and Social health.  These include, but are not limited to nutrition, sleep, exercise, hygiene, self-esteem, peer relationships, smoking, drug & alcohol education, and systems of the human body.     Each class deals with these topics in ways that are appropriate to the age and maturity level of the students.

At each level, the health unit includes information on male/female physiology and reproduction, appropriate to the developmental level of the students.  The Middle School curriculum includes information about the physical and emotional changes related to puberty as well as physical safety.  The Upper School curriculum will include information on responsibility and decision-making and peer pressure.  As part of Health, Upper School students participate in the one-week Heart-to-Heart program that addresses healthy decision making by teens.  Parents receive information prior to the beginning of the Health Unit, and have the opportunity to discuss their questions and/or concerns.
