Educational Support Services
Reading/Math
Reading/math specialists provide individual and small group tutorial services for students who need additional support in the areas of reading, writing, spelling and/or math. These support services supplement classroom instruction to provide more comprehensive remediation for students with significant learning difficulties.
Speech and Language
Many students at Manville have speech and language difficulties that impact both their academic progress and their social interactions. Manville's speech and language therapists work with students individually and/or in small groups both in and out of the classroom setting, complete diagnostic assessments and provide consultation to educational, counseling and clinical staff. A significant focus of their work is the development of pragmatic language skills related to social communication and interactions with peers and adults.
Occupational
Therapy
Manville's occupational therapy services include individual work with students, teacher consultation and classroom-based group work. Our licensed occupational therapists work with students to address difficulties in sensory processing, hand skill development and/or visual-motor integration. Through occupational therapy consultation, teachers utilize a variety of sensory diet materials to help students regulate input from the environment and to function successfully within the classroom. Students utilize adaptive equipment, such as "sit 'n' move" cushions, theraputty, weighted vests, etc. Suspension equipment is used for further sensory input.
