Physical Education at Manville

At Manville every child is unique in his or her own way, as is their learning style. As children develop and mature, their capabilities to perform tasks, their need for activity and their dependence on us as educators change.  They experience physical changes, perceptual changes, psychomotor changes, cognitive changes and social changes.  All of these factors must be taken into account when planning a lesson in order for children to perform optimally.  Children are amazing learners capable of acquiring new concepts at lightening speed.  It is important to challenge them physically and mentally during physical education instruction.  This is important because children enjoy learning and the amount of energy and enthusiasm they put into it is amazing.  Some children here at Manville do have trouble learning and completing the tasks that are part of class.  Thus, it is important to teach them that success is not always in winning or performing the task perfectly.  Success is in determining a goal for oneself and then doing our best to achieve that goal.  What is valued is improvement.
