Judge Baker Children’s Center Symposium to celebrate the
100th anniversary of the Boston Juvenile Court

Boston, MA - Judge Baker Children’s Center will honor the memory of its namesake, the Honorable Harvey Humphrey Baker, and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Boston Juvenile Court by hosting a day-long symposium, “Treating Multi-Problem Youth: Expert Perspectives.” The Symposium, co-sponsored by Massachusetts’ Department of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, and Department of Youth Services, will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at Harvard Medical School’s Conference Center.

The symposium will focus exclusively on best practices for the treatment of children and adolescents who are involved in the juvenile justice system, or who are at risk of involvement because of serious conduct problems and delinquency. Three world-renowned experts in intervention with these youths will present keynote addresses, participate in a panel discussion, and lead training sessions in their intervention methods.

Dr. Alan Kazdin is Director of the Yale Child Conduct Clinic, a professor at Yale University, and the former director of the Yale Child Study Center. Dr. Kazdin is the creator of Problem Solving Skills Training and Parent Management Training. Dr. Scott Henggeler is the Director of the Family Services Research Center and a professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Henggeler is also the creator of Multisystemic Therapy. Dr. Patricia Chamberlain is the Clinical Director of the Oregon Social Learning Center. Dr. Chamberlain is the creator of Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care.

Event attendees will be professionals from Judge Baker Children's Center, DMH, DSS, and DYS, as well as representatives from the juvenile court and court clinics.
