Research Associate
Description:
The Research Assistant will work under the direction of the lead investigator and will collaborate with research staff and biostatisticians at US and international institutions to coordinate data collection, data entry, and data tracking on several research projects pertaining the long-term effects of childhood malnutrition on behavior and mental health and health outcomes. The RA will work on a number of research projects for the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Malnutrition on Health and Behavioral Development program and will be responsible for data entry, programming and statistical analysis, data coordination management, and results reporting. The RA will be responsible for data management activities in collaboration with the investigator. He/she must be familiar with data management software, spreadsheet software . He/she will also assist the Research Coordinators with monitoring and ordering supplies. The RA will also assist with grant and manuscript preparation, literature reviews and grant submission.
This position requires an extremely high level of attention to detail and the ability to enter numerical and text data quickly and accurately. This position will also involve photocopying assessment materials, filing, faxing, maintaining files and materials, and other general office duties as assigned. Applicant must be able to handle confidential information appropriately and be accurate, computer literate, and professional. This job provides the opportunity to be an integral part of an active and innovative research team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with project coordinator and biostatistician to enter and clean study data, design and apply specific SAS programs, producing analysis datasets, reports, or graphics;
- The programmer will assist in creating a database infrastructure. SAS programming skills, basic knowledge of statistics and experience with data entry and cleaning are mandatory.
Requirements, Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer programming, psychology, statistics or related field
- Experience: 2-4 years research experience in psychology, public health or epidemiology
- Knowledge of SAS programming a requirement.
- Knowledge of database management software.
- Experience retrieving, manipulating and analyzing data .
- Ability to utilize basic project planning skills, concepts and tools, including relevant software.
- Knowledge of study design, research methodology, statistical analysis, and data management.
- Skill in using computer programs, such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have accurate data entry skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the internet.
- Must be detail oriented, organized and be able to manage time well
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This is a full time, 40-hours per week position.
