Clinical Case Supervisor

Description:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Program Director and according to Department of Social Services and Child-at-Risk Hotline policy, it is the responsibility of the Clinical Case Supervisor to provide clinical management of shifts, including evaluation of screener fact gathering, case assessment, case intervention, and workload. The Clinical Case Supervisor also approves all 51 A reports of child abuse and neglect. As needed, Clinical Case Supervisors also gathers data from callers, assess callers’ needs, and implement appropriate program response. The Clinical Case Supervisor must also enter detailed, accurate, and important information in the DSS database, facilitating DSS interventions, and coordinating DSS requests and situations as needed. The Clinical Case Supervisor is also responsible for providing information and referral to callers and assisting callers as needed through use of crisis intervention and crisis de-escalation techniques as needed. The Clinical Case Supervisor also must also individually supervise Telephone Case Screeners and maintain ongoing written supervision records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides clinical management of shifts including evaluation of screener fact gathering, case assessment, case intervention, and workload according to documented procedures.
• Approves 51A reports of child abuse/neglect with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Counsels Telephone Case Screeners on DSS and program policies and procedures while on shift.
• Communicate incidents, situations to Program Director and Assistant Program Director as required by DSS and program policies.
• Supervises clinical record keeping on shifts to ensure compliance.
• Individually supervises Telephone Case Screeners and maintains ongoing written supervision records.
• Conducts annual reviews of Telephone Case Screeners in writing according to Center procedures.
• Supervises Telephone Case Screeners as they gather data from callers, assess callers’ needs, and implement appropriate program response.
• According to DSS procedure, assists Telephone Case Screeners in gathering detailed, accurate, and thorough case information from callers and relaying this information to a supervisor via telephone or in person.
• Completes detailed, accurate, and thorough child protection case reports from callers and enters them into the DSS database as according to department guidelines.
• Performs accurate searches for consumers in the DSS database and creates new consumers in the DSS database according to department guidelines.
• Facilitates emergency DSS interventions by conveying detailed, important information to DSS personnel with accuracy and speed.
• Coordinates DSS case requests or situations and completes accurate, thorough memoranda to DSS.
• Gathers detailed, accurate, follow up information regarding cases while on shift and documents information according to department guidelines .
• Recommends appropriate services and provides information and referral assistance to callers.
• Gathers and conveys case management information from the DSS database to appropriate persons according to DSS and program confidentiality guidelines.
• Maintains non-judgmental, non-confrontational, and professional demeanor with callers at all times.
• Maintains non-judgmental, non-confrontation, and professional demeanor with subordinates and co-workers at all times.
• Completes accurate and thorough internal records such as daily computer logs, case logs, runaway list, memo log, alert log as required for service delivery and documentation.
• Assists callers under stress through use of crisis intervention and crisis de-escalation techniques as defined in department training.
• Attends general staff and in-service training meetings as necessary and directed.
• Arrives to scheduled shift on time and works nights, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather, as required by program policies.
• Represents the Hotline to external groups as necessary and directed
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in Human Services preferred.
• Knowledge of DSS preferred.
• Strong supervisory and motivational skills required.
• Ability to make complex clinical decisions according to DSS and program policy required.
• Past supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous child protective or hotline experience a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills required.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and in inclement weather as required by program procedures.
• Must be computer literate.
• Fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Meets JBCC CORI requirements.
• Meets DSS requirements to utilize DSS database.

Salary and Hours:

Full time position, salary commensurate with experience.
