Friday, May 8, 2009

The 46th Annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast was held on the morning of Friday, May 8th in the Imperial Ballroom of the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.  John Weisz, Ph.D., President and CEO of Judge Baker Children’s Center was the keynote speaker for this breakfast. He was seated at the head table along with Mayor Thomas Menino, Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray, Water For People President Frederick H. Elwell, Bishop John Patrick Boles, Reverend Stephen T. Ayres, Rabbi Jonah Pesner, Reverend Gloria E. White-Hammond, MD, and Bilal Kaleem on behalf of the Muslim American Society.  The morning’s emcee was WBX-TV Sport Anchor Steve Burton.

The Governor’s Prayer Breakfast is a networking event that raises funds for deserving non-profit organizations.  It is also an opportunity for business, religious and political leaders to join together supporting the Rotary Club of Boston, and other deserving causes.  Former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter served as Honorary Chair for this event because of her affiliation and true interest in children’s mental health services.  Governor Deval Patrick was unable to attend due to a death in the family. Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray was there in his place.
