Services We Provide

Assessment

At Clinical Care at Judge Baker Children's Center, we believe proper assessment unlocks the key to creating an effective treatment plan for each child. We conduct a scientifically-supported assessment of each child to identify the areas of greatest concern. Our goals are to determine the initial focus of treatment, identify the best-fit treatment plan and to establish a baseline of initial symptoms in order to effectively monitor progress. Our assessment includes a semi-structured interview for parents and children and a number of validated psychosocial questionnaires.

Treatment

Clinical Care works with children ages 4-17 with anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and disruptive behavior. Over the past four decades, research on children's mental health care has identified specific practices that are effective for the treatment of these disorders. These practices are called evidence-based treatments, interventions for which systematic research has shown evidence of good client outcomes including reduced treatment time and sustainable results.

Individual Therapy

Tailoring evidence-based treatments to the unique needs and temperament of each child and family, we see youth and/or parents for weekly individual therapy sessions. Treatments are short-term, active, and goal oriented. Below is a list of the disorders treated at Clinical Care.

Group Therapy

Clinical Care provides effective and proven group treatment for children and teens suffering with anxiety and depressive disorders as well as skill-based groups for parents of children with behavior problems. We offer the following short-term groups for children, teens and their parents:

  • Youth Anxiety Groups
  • Youth Depression Groups
  • Parenting Groups for Managing Disruptive Behavior

The small groups for youth with depression or anxiety use active, goal-oriented cognitive-behavioral approaches to provide education, problem-solving strategies, relaxation skills, coping skills, and other treatment strategies designed to increase adaptive thoughts and behaviors.

The groups for parents of children with disruptive behavior are designed to teach parents positive and effective techniques to increase the frequency of desired behaviors while decreasing their child's misbehavior and non-compliance.
