History of Excellence
Founded in 1917, Judge Baker Children's Center is one of the oldest child mental health organizations in New England providing services for children and families. With an international reputation for excellence in quality care, research and training, Judge Baker Children's Center operates programs in special education, community and school consultation, specialized summer treatment, and outpatient mental health care.
Approach
The Clinical Care team at Judge Baker Children's Center is results driven. We take the time to thoroughly evaluate each child. Our team exclusively uses evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive and behavioral therapies, and continually monitors the child's progress in order to individualize treatment and maximize gains. Clinical Care is one of the few service providers in the Boston area that specializes in evidence-based treatments supported by a customized tracking system to monitor clinical interventions and the child's progress with treatment.
Research
Judge Baker Children's Center is a national leader in the research of evidence-based treatments for children and young adolescents, and in the dissemination of these findings through scientific articles, books, news media, and post-doctoral education.
Judge Baker Children's Center believes the dissemination of evidence-based treatments is a critical step in narrowing the gap between research and practice. We are working to bring the research into practice through the training of New England area mental health providers.
Our research is led by Judge Baker Children's Center President and CEO, John Weisz, Ph.D., ABPP, a Professor of Psychology at Harvard University and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Weisz is a former president of the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and is an internationally recognized researcher. Along with the Network on Youth Mental Health, Dr. Weisz has developed the cutting-edge model for the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, and conduct problems used at Clinical Care.
