James Prince began his position as the Director of Judge Baker’s Manville School in September 2000. A great contributor to the “culture of community” at Manville, Mr. Prince grew up in Boston and has served area families and children for over 20 years. Before joining the staff at Judge Baker, Mr. Prince served as Clinical Director for the Italian Home for Children, a residential and day school program for young people struggling with learning disabilities and emotional disturbances, from 1994 to 2000. At the Italian Home, he managed all clinical and medical components of the school’s model, supervised and recruited staff, and oversaw the clinical internship program. He occupied a similar role while working for the Gifford School from 1984 to 1989. Mr. Prince developed an interest in child mental health early on in his career while serving as a Clinical Associate III at the Walker Home and School in Needham, Mass., where he practiced individual psychotherapy, family therapy and case management. Mr. Prince’s extensive background of involvement with at-risk children makes him a wonderful leader of Judge Baker’s Manville School.
